A very warm welcome awaits you if you come along and join in our walks. We are always really pleased to welcome newcomers who want to give our Walking Club a try.
Please find below some useful tips for getting started:-
First of all the equipment you will need:-
- A good pair of walking boots
- A rucksack
- A waterproof coat (and waterproof trousers) (just in case of inclement weather)
- A basic first aid kit
- A walking stick or pole is recommended when conditions are muddy/slippery
- Depending on the season you will need
- sun hats & sun cream
- gloves, scarf, warm hat
- A packed lunch, including plenty of liquid, especially in warm weather
Other Points
- The coach picks up at the car park near the Vue Cinema, Doncaster. There is plenty of free parking there.
- Return time to Doncaster does vary but it is generally between 5pm and 6pm.
- We endeavour to provide toilet stops and refreshment stops along our walks
- The terrain during our walks is varied, it is usually on marked footpaths and lanes which can be undulating and could be muddy and slippery at times, consequently walking boots are essential.
- . We do advise that people committing to try our walks for the first time undertake the ‘B’ walk which is between 7 and 9 miles. Then you can assess whether the A or B walk is the most suitable walk for you. A walks are longer, between 10 and 12 miles and usually have more ascent.
