50 Years British Coal Rambling Club
Each arranged walk shall have a designated walk leader who will appoint a Back-marker to ensure the group keeps together, that no one gets left behind and gates are closed.
The leader shall carry a First Aid Kit, relevant map, compass and whistle, and any other safety items which would be considered advisable, having taken into account the terrain and weather conditions.
All persons taking part in the Club’s walks should be encouraged to wear appropriate attire and carry a personal safety/first aid kit.
The walk leader will inform any person who he/she feels is unsuitably attired of the dangers that may arise from their situation, (and could in certain serious circumstances prohibit participation in their walk).
All club members should be encouraged to become proficient in map reading and compass usage.
No person or groups of persons shall leave the walk without informing the leader.
Booking a place on any of the Club’s events obligates that person to pay the necessary fee even if they subsequently do not attend the event, other than when there would be no loss to the Club after the event. (This is currently half the cost of the bus fare).
All persons taking part in the Club walk shall conduct themselves in a responsible manner and obey the Country Code (see below).
The maximum membership of the Club shall be regulated to ensure that all members have an opportunity to participate in the Club events.
Current members shall welcome new participants and give encouragement and advice to enable new members to improve their outdoor awareness and skills.
Non-members will be accepted on the monthly walks and they will be expected to pay the normal walk fee plus an extra amount set by the Club Committee to cover administration.
A non-member will only be able to attend a specific number of walks, set by the Club Committee, without becoming a full member.
All fully paid up members and temporary members participate in Club activities entirely at their own risk and the Club shall not be liable in any way for any personal losses or injuries however caused. The safety of all participants is of paramount importance at all times.
The Countryside Code
