Difficulty: Easy
Great Ayton
Description:
The ‘B’ walk is a lovely, easy circular walk that takes us to the old market town of Stokesley.
We will follow the course of the River Leven which in the summer months is a dry path, but when it's had a lot of rain can be quite muddy. At the time of the recce, it was lovely and dry.
We will take our lunch stop in Stokesley where there is no shortage of pubs and cafés dotted around the market square.
The route back to Great Ayton is mainly over farmland with just a little road walking. There will be a couple of Rape fields to negotiate. It wasn't quite ready to be harvested when I did the recce so I wouldn't recommend wearing shorts. I wore shorts and my legs were quite well exfoliated by the end of that section of the route!
When we reach the end of the walk in Great Ayton there are cafes and a park if we arrive back before the ‘A’ group and have time to kill. There are public toilets in the village too.
