B Walk 06-Jul-2025 Leader: Sheila
Distance (miles): 8.00   Ascent (feet): 700  Difficulty: Easy

Melbourne, Derbyshire

Description:

The B walk will start in Ticknall, a small village lying on the outskirts of Calke Park which is home to Calke Abbey. The National Trust, under whose management it lies, describes it as an “un-stately home and country estate”. Our route will take us through Calke Park and its National Nature Reserve. A lunch stop will be made at Staunton Harold Reservoir, where there is a National Trust café and toilets. After lunch our route will take us towards Melbourne, and then head over to the woodland area known as Gorsey Leys. From here we’ll pass Seven Spouts Farm before picking up the National Forest Way back to Ticknall.
