B Walk 01-Jun-2025
Leader: Peter Gravestock
Distance (miles): 8.00
Ascent (feet): 1000
Difficulty: Moderate
Haworth
Description:
From the centre of Haworth, we walk past the Bronte Parsonage museum and the church, before climbing steeply onto the moors and then to Bronte Bridge. Another short climb and then a steady ascent takes us to our lunch stop at Top Withins (supposedly the inspiration for Heathcliff's home in Wuthering Heights). After lunch we follow the Pennine Way gently downhill to Stanbury and our pub stop at The Friendly (cash only). This will be 6 miles into the walk and is the only opportunity to use toilet facilities. From
here we cross Lower Laithe reservoir and have our final (short) ascent to a level track which takes us back to Haworth. There may be time to look around the village before we head home.
