B Walk 02-Jun-2024
Leader: Peter Gravestock
Distance (miles): 9.00
Ascent (feet): 690
Difficulty: Moderate
Monyash
Description:
From the centre of Monyash we follow the Limestone Way to One Ash Grange farm and make our main ascent of the day to the top of the hill overlooking the farm, where we will take our morning break.
There then follows a stretch of (unavoidable) road walking past the site of Arbor Low, a Neolithic henge monument (we don't actually see it) and on to Parsley Hay, at the head of the Tissington Trail. This is our lunch stop and there are picnic tables, toilets and a refreshment kiosk.
After lunch we continue along the disused railway track, before heading uphill through fields and back to Monyash.
The plan here is to avail ourselves of the facilities offered by the Bulls Head pub while we wait for the A walk.
