B Walk 06-Apr-2025 Leader: Peter Gravestock
Distance (miles): 7.50   Ascent (feet): 1060  Difficulty: Moderate+

Holmfirth

Description:

We start our walk at Upperthong and then follow undulating paths and tracks to Digley reservoir. We walk around the reservoir to Holme for our lunch stop. There is a pub (the Fleece Inn), which also serves takeaway hot and cold drinks and hopefully we will find somewhere suitable to sit and enjoy them. There are also public toilets close by. After lunch we head to the viaduct between Brownhill and Ramsden reservoirs before another steepish climb (240 ft) to the highest point of the day, overlooking Brownhill reservoir. From here it's largely downhill all the way back to Holmfirth, with a short stretch alongside the river Holme. We should have time in Holmfirth before catching the coach.
