Today’s walk starts at Normanshill Wood. Although we will be heading towards Newstead Abbey, we will only catch a glimpse of it through the trees as we head south towards Papplewick Hall and our coffee stop. We continue to follow the Robin Hood Way, initially beside the woods then through them. After a slight ascent we reach the A60 which we cross and continue along Kighill Lane. Turning left, we walk along the road (B6020) to reach the Little John Inn at Ravenhead where we have permission to eat out lunch in the Beer Garden at the rear as long as we buy a drink. After lunch we pick up the path to take us through the woods too Rainworth Water. Crossing the A60 again we walk through Thieves Wood and Normanshill Wood to take us back to the start. This is a pleasant walk mainly on very good paths through woods and lovely open countryside. There are no stiles on this walk.
