The B walk starts in the village of Cawood, known for its medieval palace of the Archbishop of York where Cardinal Wolsey was arrested for treason in 1530. Taking the road adjacent to Cawood park to join the river Wharfe we head across a series of footpaths over farmland. This brings us to Ryther, a village having a rich history dating back to Roman times and the ruins of a castle dating back to the 14th century. A little more road walking and across fields brings us to Ulleskelf a name derived from the Norse for a flat area or river bank. Here we will take our lunch stop, after which we follow the bank of the river Wharfe to Tadcaster where there will be an opportunity for refreshments before returning to the coach.
