Bradgate Park near Leicester
Description:
We start our walk at the Bradgate Park Visitor Centre at Newtown Linford and walk in a northerly direction along the western side of the park taking in a gradual climb to the Old John Tower, a Folly, alongside a War Memorial, which is at the highest point in the park, giving extensive views over the Leicestershire countryside. Continuing we will skirt the Lingdale Golf Course and reach the village of Woodhouse Eaves. Here we will find the Curzon Arms, a pub we have used a few times before, for our lunch Stop. After lunch we will head southeast and walk for a short while along the National Forest Way, and shortly reach Cropston Reservoir, where we will walk along the western shore and then walk through the main part of Bradgate Park to return to our starting point at Newtown Linford where there are toilets and a two Cafes. Much of the early and later parts of the walk in Bradgate Park form part of a free roaming deer park,
