Delph
Description:
We start from Bishops Park Monument above the Tame Valley. A steep bracken covered track takes us down into the pretty village of Delph with its history in textiles and quarrying. (Delph means quarry in Old English). Onward with a stroll along the narrow river Tame towards Denshaw. Then Ox Hey Lane, a short stretch of the Oldham Way to New Years Bridge Reservoir. We stop for lunch at the Junction Inn, Denshaw. We make our way back to the start point, passing over Crompton Moor, with views of the Pennines and the distant towering buildings of Manchester. Please note some footpaths are narrowed by undergrowth as is typical this time of year. The use of sticks is recommended.
