A Walk 08-Sep-2024
Leader: Paul Gardner
Distance (miles): 11.80
Ascent (feet): 643
Difficulty: Moderate
Longshaw/Hathersage
Description:
We start from Foxhouse and proceed through the Longshaw Estate to reach White Edge, adjacent to the Hurkling Stone. Then on via White Edge Moor where we enjoy great views from this vantage point. Although this path has an elevation of 1190 ft, there is only a steady ascent from our relatively high start point. We drop down to Curbar Gap then drop further to Baslow Edge at around 942 ft with more great views of Chatsworth and beyond. On sight of Wellington’s Monument we make a steady descent to Curbar and then to Calver for lunch at the Derwentwater Inn. Our route then takes us over pasture towards Froggatt and Spooner Lane to finish at Grindleford Chapel shop/cafe.
