This is a walk of two halves. The first half is along the Cleveland Way highlighting the rugged North Sea coast, and after reaching Scalby Mills, we encounter the seaside delights of Scarborough. Setting off from the village of Cloughton, we head down the country lane near Cober Hill and join the coastal path heading south towards Scarborough. Whilst enjoying the wide open majestic coastal scenery we will have a coffee stop along the coastal route before reaching Burniston and Scalby Mills. Our pub stop will be at the Old Scalby Mill pub. We then continue along the coastal route along Marine Drive and head up to the castle and then to St Mary’s churchyard to visit Anne Bronte’s grave in the old town. The views from the castle of the North and South bays are stunning. We will then have a lunch break in Scarborough where everyone can enjoy the seaside facilities on offer – ice cream, fish and chips, the beach, the bustle of the harbour etc. To complete our coastal journey we will walk past The Spa and up through the delightful Italian gardens to our finish at the car park at Seacliffe Road where the coach will pick up both A walkers and B walkers for our return journey.
