Difficulty: Hard
Hebden Bridge to Heptinsall
Description:
This walk is shorter than our usual “A” walks but is a challenging and hard walk up to our lunchtime stop, with steep ascents from Hebden Bridge and a difficult track towards Heptonstall over large rocks and boulders in Eaves Wood.
Our steep ascent starts as we leave Hebden Bridge, with a climb of 800 ft in one mile as we make our way towards Colden Clough and Eaves Wood where we have a tricky walk over rocks and boulders until we reach the historic and famous village of Heptonstall where we have 2 pubs, a coffee shop, BBC filming locations, a museum and some time to explore the cobbled streets.
Our descent from Heptonstall is shorter and less testing, through crags and woods. We make our way down to the Rochdale canal and the towpath which will take us back into Hebden Bridge where hopefully, we will have a little time to explore this famous Town and it’s culture.
Walking sticks are recommended, there are public toilets opposite our off load point in Hebden Bridge which are available to us before we set off for our walks.
