Leader: Charles Stuart
Distance (miles): 10.20
Ascent (feet): 889
Difficulty: Moderate
Hessle to Brantingham
Description:
Our walk starts at the side of the iconic and awesome Humber Bridge, in the Humber Bridge Country Park, where public toilets are available.
We have a short stretch along the pebble foreshore, following The Wolds Way, where if you’re lucky you may find a fossil or two. From there we continue The Trans Pennine Trail at the side of the Humber Estuary across open green space. A turn North will then take us into North Ferriby, where we will have a coffee stop. We then have a steady walk through North Ferriby, until we pick up The Yorkshire Wolds Way again and progress through scenic woodland towards our lunch stop in the historic village of Welton, with a pub stop at The Green Dragon, famous for being the location where Dick Turpin was arrested and sent for trial in York.
After lunch we pick up the YWW again and make our way through plantations farmland and well established tracks until we reach our destination and coach pick up point in Brantingham and then a drive back to Doncaster.
