We start in Calver and make a steady ascent along Coombs Dale to Black Harry Gate. Then on to enjoy the view from Longstone Edge and descend to Great Longstone. We walk a short stretch of the Monsal Trail and reach Ashford in the Water for our lunch stop. A footpath takes us past Churchdale Hall, then another section of the Monsal Trail is our route back to Calver via Rowland and Hassop Common. Gaiters and walking sticks are recommended given recent wet weather.
