Leader: John Elliott
Distance (miles): 11.00
Ascent (feet): 1727
Difficulty: Moderate
Eyam/Litton
Description:
We start from the car park in Eyam where there are toilets.
This is a circular walk beginning by walking behind the church and through the village. From the village centre we take a footpath up to the boundary stone where during the plague villages exchanged goods and left money in the holes of the stone.
From there it is a gentle walk down to Stoney Middleton. It is then a fairly steep ascent up to around 235 metres as we follow the footpath across fields before descending down a steep path into the valley of Rough Side, where we then follow a wide track to our coffee stop at the reservoir near Black Harry Gate.
From our coffee stop we continue on fairly flat footpaths until we take the path down into and out of Tansley Dale.
The final part taking us across fields and stiles to the pub in Litton.
We then have a short walk along the road before joining the footpath past Peter’s Stone. We then cross the A623 and head for Stanley House then Brosterfield Farm. From there it is a 2 kilometre walk back to Eyam by a wide undulating stoney track.
