HUMBER BRIDGE – WELTON – BRANTINGHAM
The Wolds Way—Part 1
Description:
Opened in 1982, the Yorkshire Wolds Way (YWW) runs from Hessle to Filey, a total of 80 miles. Our walk joins it near the start, from the Humber Bridge visitor centre, and we follow it to North Ferriby, Melton and Welton, where we detour to the Green Dragon Inn for our lunch stop. The Green Dragon is where Dick Turpin was arrested in 1739 and (slightly less famously) was the venue for our 2017 Christmas meal. After lunch we rejoin the YWW and head up Welton Dale onto Bran-tingham Wold, then down to All Saints Church. Here we leave the YWW and head to the Triton Inn, where the coach will be waiting for us and where there should be an opportunity for further light refreshment and toilets before our return to Doncaster.
