The Splendours of Derbyshire (with Tarts)
Description:
We start today’s walk from Calton Lees and heads off west to Calton House then through Maulds Plantation and into the popular village of Edensor (pronounced ensor).Between 1838 and 1842 the 6th Duke of Devonshire had the village moved out of sight, over a hill from his palatial palace,- Chatsworth House). We continue through Chatsworth Park and into Baslow to then head west along School Lane en-route to Hassop and The Eyre Arms for our lunch stop. After lunch it’s a little more road walking before turning south via Long Rake Plantation and Toll Bar House to pick up the footpaths taking us into the famous Derbyshire town of Bakewell and the end of our walk.
