Distance (miles): 8.00   Ascent (feet):   Difficulty: Moderate

EYAM CIRCULAR-via Stoney Middleton-Coombs Dale-Foolow-Eyam
Derbyshire—Eyam

Description:

We start our walk in the historic village of Eyam where public toilets are available before we set off. From Eyam a good track takes us a short distance down into Stoney Middle-ton. From Stoney Middleton a short sharp climb up a footpath (about 100m) leads us to a path which takes us out of Stoney Middleton and across fields to the bottom of Coombs Dale. There is a good track which extends the length of Coombs Dale, rising gently and steadily up the Dale, finishing at a reservoir. We will follow this track and take our time, perhaps first stopping for refreshments at the bottom of the Dale and then again at the top. After coffee stop we skirt the edge of the reservoir and head over across fields towards Castlegate Stud Farm, past Housley House, before reaching the pretty village of Foolow where we will take refreshments at the Bulls Head. Foolow is actually not very far from Eyam, and our walk from Foolow along Tideswell Lane back into Eyam will take us less than an hour. For this reason, and depending on walk timings on the day, we may stop and have our sandwiches before we reach Foolow (but you’re welcome to save your sandwiches for the pub stop).
