Hathersage-Leadmill Bridge-Brough-Birchfield Park-Loosehill Hall-Castleton
Castleton Round– Derbyshire

We leave Hathersage and head towards Leadmill Bridge, crossing the bridge we pick up the river-side path and follow the course of the River Derwent towards Castleton. Upon reaching Wheat Hay Farm we make our way along Townfield Lane and head over to Brough for our lunch stop at the Travellers Rest. After lunch there is a change of scenery as we leave the riverside and head for the hills. There’s a little road walking to start with to take us towards Aston, but it’s not long before we get off the road. This section of the route to Aston involves a very gentle climb as we head away from the valley bottom. From Aston we walk to Birchfield where the path takes us down and back over the river. We’re on the homeward stretch now as the path takes us past Spring House Farm, Losehill Hall and finally into Castleton for a well earned “cuppa”.
