Derbyshire Edges

We start todays A-walk from Foxhouses, first via the grounds of the Longshaw Estate to reach Hurkling Stone at White Edge and then via White Edge Moor. We continue along the length of White Edge taking in fine views on all sides and although this path has an elevation of up to 366 me-tres there is only a steady ascent from the drop off points which start at a relatively high position. We drop down to Curbar Gap and then onto Baslow Edge at around 290 metres, with more great views of Chatsworth and beyond. On sight of Wellington's monument we take a steady descent into Curbar, then on to Calver for our lunch stop at the Derwentwater Inn. Our route then takes us over pasture towards Froggatt and from here we take the ancient Spooner Lane to finish at Grindleford Chapel. A superb edge walk without any arduous ascent, excellent views and a cafe to finish! Just the job, lets hope for some good weather in which to enjoy the tremendous vistas on offer.
